Amrabat is United’s top target as the transfer season closes, although he faces competition from Premier League opponents.
United are keen to bolster their midfield before the 11 p.m. deadline on Friday. Amrabat is apparently their top desire, but due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, the Red Devils may be forced to sign the 27-year-old on loan.
However, Erik ten Hag appears to be up against Nottingham Forest in the hunt to sign Amrabat. Nottingham Forest are said to have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to recruit the Moroccan.
The two teams are said to have agreed on a £17 million offer from the Midlands outfit. Amrabat was then offered the option of accepting or declining the transfer.
However, Amrabat ‘instantly’ rejected the move, according to Sport Italia. According to the source, the former Club Brugge midfielder is only interested in joining United this summer, shutting out other clubs.
Amrabat has been left out of Fiorentina’s starting lineup to assist him in finding a new club. He rose to popularity after leading Morocco to victory in the World Cup in Qatar last year.
United are seen to be the frontrunners for his services. However, they are in a race against the clock to execute the transfer before 11 p.m. on Friday.
According to The Athletic, the Old Trafford hierarchy is negotiating with the Italian club to capture Amrabat. It is suggested that a loan agreement is more likely than a permanent relocation owing to FFP.
United have also been connected with Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich. However, Amrabat is still the priority at this point.
Ten Hag’s midfield has struggled this season in the Premier League, and new acquisition Mason Mount has been ruled out due to injury. Casemiro, the experienced Brazilian, has been criticized for his performances, but he scored in Saturday’s 3-2 triumph over Nottingham Forest.
