According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United is expected to sign a new goalkeeper before the deadline, with the player already in the city.
Is Manchester United acquiring a goalkeeper?
Erik ten Hag and those at Old Trafford have been pretty active this summer, with four new recruits, but it appears that a few more could be on their way before the deadline tomorrow evening.
As previously stated, the Red Devils have already signed a new goalkeeper in Andre Onana, as well as a new midfielder, striker, and another center-back in former star Jonny Evans.
Despite having already signed Onana, Manchester United appears to be looking for another shot-stopper, with Altay Bayindir prominently connected with a move to the Premier League.
Following suspicions of Dean Henderson’s departure, reports last week suggested that a deal for the Fenerbahce goalkeeper was close, and Romano stated on Tuesday that a move was back ‘on track’ and in the final stages.
He has now provided another update, telling X on Wednesday that Henderson’s move to Crystal Palace is expected to be revealed and that Bayindir will join United as his replacement. Romano stated:
“Crystal Palace are expected to announce Dean Henderson as their new signing today, following the completion of his medical.” Manchester United will receive £15 million plus £5 million in add-ons. Altay Bayindir is poised to sign and replace him in Manchester.”
Meanwhile, former Manchester United midfielder Fred, who joined Fenerbahce this summer, appeared to confirm a transaction, saying:
“When Altay left, I wished him luck.” He’ll be joining a fantastic team. I suggested other spots for him to live and informed him that it rained a lot!
“I think Altay is going to be very happy at Manchester United.”
who is Altay Bayindir
Bayindir is 25 years old and has spent his entire career in his home nation of Turkey. The 6ft 5 shot-stopper made his senior debut with Ankaragucu, where he appeared in 31 games before joining Fenerbahce in 2019.
Bayindir has gone on to make 145 appearances for his current club, including 40 as captain last season. The five-cap Turkey international has 44 clean sheets for Fenerbahce and is valued at €11 million on Transfermarkt.
However, the goalkeeper may not be the only late addition, as United appear to be working on a deal to bring midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to Old Trafford. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are in talks with Fiorentina about a loan transfer, so after gaining the services of Bayindir, you’d think their whole focus would be on the Moroccan international.
