Over the previous few months, the talented Celta Vigo midfielder has been linked with a move to a number of prominent clubs. Liverpool was rumored to be quite interested, but it appears that they have now missed out.
Here’s what Romano had to say on X.
Liverpool target Gabri Veiga has joined Napoli, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Over the last few months, Liverpool has been linked with a number of midfielders.
The Reds have required middle-of-the-park reinforcements for roughly two years, and following a dismal season last year, they have made it a priority to strengthen.
Despite the additions of Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool are still looking for a new midfielder, and several rumors have linked them with a move for Gabri Veiga.
Just over two weeks ago, journalist Ben Jacobs said on X that a key Liverpool figure discussed the promising midfielder with Celta Vigo manager Rafa Benitez.
However, it appears like Napoli has won the race to sign him.
“Gabri Veiga to Napoli, here we go!” Romano tweeted. A verbal agreement has been reached, with Celta Vigo receiving €36 million in add-ons for the excellent Spanish midfielder.
“€30 million fixed fee plus €6 million add-ons package.” Documents must be prepared before medical tests may begin. “The best signing in Serie A.”
