This summer, David de Gea just can’t seem to get a break. First, he’s been released by Manchester United, with the club letting his contract expire and instead signing Andre Onana.
Then he’s extensively associated with a ‘dream move’ to Real Madrid, which almost happened over eight years ago – and the situation appears to be ideal for both parties.
However, a newly revealed loan arrangement has clearly demonstrated that De Gea will not be moving to Madrid, with a fellow Spanish Premier League keeper taking his place.
Kepa agrees to a loan to Real Madrid.
According to the dependable Fabrizio Romano, Kepa Arrizabalaga has agreed to a loan move to Real Madrid.
This follows word that Thibaut Courtois had torn his ACL, putting him out for the rest of the season.
This meant that the European giants needed to find a replacement keeper quickly.
It was rumored that de Gea was on Real Madrid’s shortlist of goalkeepers, and TalkSport also alleged that he is in ‘advanced’ talks with the club, in a surprisingly swift turnaround.
It appeared that De Gea would finally get his ‘dream move,’ but this is no longer the case.
Why is this bad news for David de Gea?
The new season has arrived, and De Gea remains without a club.
He has received offers from Saudi clubs, but the Spaniard is certain that he is capable of playing at the highest level in European football.
However, it is evident that his options are narrowing, and he must make a decision soon if he wants to play football this season.
It’s rather tragic how things are turning out for Dave. We hope he can find a solution quickly.
