Manchester United suffered their first pre-season defeat, falling 3-1 to Wrexham at the Snapdragon Stadium.
Marc Jurado’s goal shortly before halftime was insufficient to ignite a comeback from United, whose blunders at the back cost them the game.
Wrexham had 47% possession against the Red Devils’ 57%.
United just had one shot on target out of three total attempts. In comparison, Phil Parkinson’s men had five shots on goal out of 11 total attempts.
The 20-time English champions completed 488 passes with an 86% pass accuracy.
Wrexham, on the other hand, amassed 373 passes with an 80% success rate.
Hannibal Mejbri stole the spotlight and stood head and shoulders above his teammates on a team full of youthful players.
This was partly to be expected given that he has more senior-level experience than the majority of the United players with whom he shared the field.
During his 90-minute stint on the field, Hannibal had 82 touches of the ball.
The Tunisian completed 46 of the 54 passes he attempted, giving him an excellent pass accuracy of 85%.
He attempted four dribbles and was successful twice.
Hannibal won an astounding 13 of the 16 ground duels he participated in, demonstrating his exceptional physical abilities and defensive prowess.
In addition, the 20-year-old made three good tackles.
Crossing and long balls are two aspects of the game that Hannibal believes he needs to improve on.
He attempted three crosses and two long balls without ever finding his intended targets.
Hannibal’s fate must be decided in the next three weeks before the new season begins. The guy has performed admirably in pre-season and deserves a chance to get into the first team.
However, the fact that he was participating at the Snapdragon Stadium rather than joining the rest of his teammates in preparation for their match against Real Madrid on Thursday is concerning.
The Manchester United player has already been linked with a loan transfer to Luton Town.
