Manchester United players have responded to Jack Butland’s departure after his loan agreement expired.
The Rangers announced yesterday night that they have signed Jack Butland to a long-term contract, effective July 1, when he becomes a free agent.
Butland has signed a four-year contract with the Rangers, where he is set to take over as the team’s new captain.
It was an offer he couldn’t refuse, even if Manchester United had offered him the option to stay as a backup.
Exit reaction of Jack Butland
Jack Butland’s contract at Crystal Palace expires on June 30 at midnight, after which his move to Rangers will become official.
He expressed his excitement about starting at Ibrox on Instagram.
Butland had joined Manchester United on loan in the January transfer window. He was David de Gea’s backup and was on the bench for the FA Cup final.
While he did not appear in a game for the club, he spent a lot of time with his teammates behind the scenes and referred to United as a club that was “going places” in his farewell letter.
He received notes of encouragement, including one from Bruno Fernandes, who said, “You deserve the best.”
There was also a statement from coach Benni McCarthy, who said it was a ‘privilege’ to work with Butland.
Alejandro Garnacho, a youngster, sent another note of solidarity.
Even though he did not get the opportunity to make an influence on the field, Butland clearly made an impression behind the scenes.
