According to French media, Manchester United is close to signing Monaco center-back Axel Disasi.
United is looking for a new central defender this summer, with Eric Bailly poised to go on a permanent basis, and captain Harry Maguire exploring his options after falling out of favor with Erik Ten Hag this season.
Kim Min-Jae of Napoli is on United’s shortlist, but Ten Hag’s side is now eager to conclude a deal for Disasi, according to L’Equipe.
According to the source, Disasi has given his approval for his move to United, although the Premier League team is still in early talks with Monaco regarding a transfer cost.
Monaco is said to be seeking a deal worth between €40 million (£34.4 million) and €50 million (£43 million).
Disasi has also been linked with Manchester City and Chelsea, and he has made it clear that he wants to play in the Premier League.
‘Everyone understands the quality, passion, and spectacle that this league has,’ the defender stated in April.
‘This league will speak to all players that enjoy football. When I say these things, images of Boxing Day and other holidays flood my mind. But, as I previously stated, we are not there yet.’
Disasi, who joined Monaco from Reims in a €13 million (£11.7 million) transfer in 2020, has two years left on his current term.
The 25-year-old has three caps for France and was a member of the World Cup squad that lost to Argentina in the final in December.
