After completing signings for Mason Mount and Andre Onana, the Red Devils have made Atalanta attacker Rasmus Hojlund their major transfer target.
Once a new striker is signed, Manchester United will reportedly try to sign a new midfielder and a new center-back.
Both Fred and Scott McTominay have been linked with transfers away from Old Trafford, with the former expected to depart before the end of the summer window.
That would pave the way for a new central midfielder, with Fiorentina’s Amrabat constantly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months.
And, according to La Nazione (via Sport Witness), the ‘gap between valuations’ is the only thing blocking Man United from signing Amrabat.
Man United have made ‘solid steps’ for the midfielder, with the Red Devils only needing to up their offer by as little as €3-5 million to secure a deal, with the Premier League club ‘the only team expressing real interest’.
Fiorentina are thought to value the Moroccan international at €28-30 million, while Manchester United’s offer will ‘probably’ be around €25 million.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, gave us an update on the Amrabat situation yesterday, saying that Manchester United have not made an official bid yet, despite the fact that he is “on their list.”
“I’ve been asked again about Sofyan Amrabat and Manchester United,” Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column, “but from what I’m hearing, they haven’t made an official bid for the Fiorentina midfielder.” Amrabat is on their list, they like him, and they want to negotiate for him, but no proposal has been submitted.
“Fiorentina want around €35-40 million, and United are currently looking for a new striker in the form of Rasmus Hojlund.” Following that, they will search for a new midfielder and a new center-back.
“Outgoings will be important as well, and United are confident that Fred will leave the club.” This will be a vital first step, after which they may concentrate on Amrabat.”
Amrabat impressed in the World Cup in the winter, catching the attention of several clubs, and played 34 games in all competitions for Fiorentina last season.
