Manchester United’s decline is highlighted when a player labeled as “better than” Man City’s Erling Haaland opts for a move to the Bundesliga instead of Old Trafford.
Rasmus Hojlund currently leads the line for Man United, but it could have been different if 20-year-old Slovenian talent Benjamin Sesko had chosen otherwise. Sesko, who currently plays for RB Leipzig, could have been wearing the iconic red shirt.
Both Sesko and Haaland initially played for RB Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga before moving to the German top flight. Haaland gained fame at Borussia Dortmund, while Sesko has found himself at RB Leipzig.
In an exclusive interview with Transfermarkt, Sesko revealed his reasons for rejecting a move to Manchester. He emphasized the importance of joining a club that plays a similar style of football, avoiding the need for a steep learning curve.
Sesko expressed his ambition to listen, learn, and potentially surpass Erling Haaland’s level. He added, “My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially when it comes to speed. Most people even tell me that I’m better than him!”
While Sesko may have the potential to move to the English top flight in the future due to his age, it’s important to note that if he succeeds in the Bundesliga, the price for his services could significantly increase.
Having rejected Manchester United once, it remains to be seen whether they would pursue him again, taking into account Rasmus Hojlund’s suitability at the club.
