According to Laurie Whitwell, the Red Devils are in ‘advanced talks’ with Ipswich about a loan transfer for Williams.
The loan agreement could include a purchase commitment at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old did not play in United’s match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Erik ten Hag revealed that Williams’ absence is owing to his wish to leave the club in the summer.
Brandon Williams must play for Ipswich Town.
At left back, Williams is behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the pecking order.
Diogo Dalot can also play there, making Williams Ten Hag’s fourth-choice option.
Due to a long-term injury, he missed the majority of the 2022/2023 season, appearing in only one five-minute cameo in the League Cup.
Williams is keen to receive some playing experience to help his growth.
He might work with Kieran McKenna, the current manager of Ipswich Town, a former Manchester United coach.
McKenna was instrumental in the East Anglian club’s promotion from League One last season.
They are now atop the Championship table after winning their first three games of the season.
Williams might benefit from the opportunity to learn from McKenna and play for a squad that is currently on a roll.
Ten Hag may recall him to the United first-team squad if he performs well at Ipswich.
If he fails to do so, the Red Devils may be forced to sell him in order to return part of their investment.
