According to the French newspaper Le Parisien, Manchester United is still interested in Randal Kolo Muani as they hunt for a new striker.
This follows a strong performance for his national team against Greece, and L’Equipe reported on Wednesday that the forward is becoming more and more expensive and that the ‘hour of decision is approaching’ regarding his future, with the ‘next few days’ potentially decisive.
Manchester United is listed as one of two clubs interested in signing him, along with Bayern Munich.
The two European heavyweights have ‘gotten serious’ in signing Kolo Muani, with the Red Devils claiming they ‘will have the wherewithal’ to do so.
They do, however, warn that Manchester United’s current sale, with the Glazer family dragging their feet in making a choice, “could slow everything down when the time comes to a close.”
In terms of the sum that would have to be paid, Eintracht Frankfurt has set the bar at €100m’ in order to begin negotiations.
However, L’Equipe believes that this will not have to be paid all at once, and that ‘one can assume that the negotiations will end around a settlement for €60-70m up front with bonuses potentially reaching €30-40m’.
While the player has stated publicly that he may see himself continuing with his current club for another year, the newspaper reports that in private, he sees himself reaching the very highest level ‘in the short term,’ which means soon.
Dino Toppmöller, Eintracht’s new manager, also wants to meet with him to attempt to persuade him to stay, but whether he succeeds remains to be seen.
