The club revealed Diogo Dalot’s new contract this afternoon, extending a term that was set to expire in 2024.
Diogo Dalot’s new contract term
Dalot’s new contract is valid through 2028, with an option to extend until 2029. Dalot joined Manchester United from Porto in 2018.
He has made 107 appearances for the club and spent the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan.
“Playing for Manchester United is one of the highest honors in football,” Dalot told the club’s website.
“Over the last five years, we’ve shared some fantastic moments, and I’ve grown so much, and my passion for this incredible club has only grown since the day I joined.”
Last year, the Spanish publication Sport stated that Barcelona was interested in Dalot; but, given Dalot’s delight at United, this never seemed like a feasible option.
The only doubt was Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s return to form, which has seen Dalot drop from clear first choice in the first half of the season to splitting time 50/50.
He seemed to be content with the scenario, pledging his future to United and manager Erik Ten Hag.
Dalot continued, “As a group of players, we all feel like we are at the start of a special journey right now.”
