West Ham United can’t part ways with the Scotsman, according to the Premier League great, who recently won the Europa Conference League with Prague.
David Moyes ended the club’s four-decade wait for a trophy, but months later, things are looking bleak for the club.
While their last European journey was memorable, at the end of the day, they were fairly bad in the Premier League and were in a relegation struggle for quite some time.
They have now sold their best player, Declan Rice, to London rivals Arsenal for a club record fee. That was about three weeks ago, and the club is still sitting here with no fresh faces.
From Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse, who was deemed ‘too expensive’ by the Hammers, to Manchester City winger Carlos Borges, who chose not to move to the London Stadium and is now joining Ajax, things aren’t looking good at the club, and it’s casting a shadow over Moyes.
“Before I came on here, you (Rory Jennings) said David Moyes should still be fired,” Ferdinand said. “Are you certain?!?” What’s the matter, man? They were the winners of a European competition.
“It could also be said that we were focusing elsewhere because we truly believed we could win a European competition (despite their poor league form).” How many managers have won European awards?
“I didn’t think West Ham were particularly good in the league.” You can’t deny that they competed in a European competition and won a European trophy. Unai Emery appears to be a genius since he has won European championships. Perhaps not the Conference. I understand, but he has won trophies in Europe other than the Champions League.
“There’s something to be said for doing so. It is not a simple task. It indicates that he is an effective manager. He has proven to be a successful manager throughout the years – you don’t fire David Moyes after winning the Europa League.”
