Rasmus Hojlund, the £72 million summer signing for Manchester United, has shed light on his exchange with Casemiro during their intense match against Arsenal.
Hojlund, who made his debut for the Red Devils in the 3-1 loss at the Emirates, left a memorable impression with fans, as a compilation of his performance quickly went viral on social media.
Erik ten Hag and Gary Neville were quick to praise his performance, and even the seasoned Brazilian midfielder Casemiro took notice, grabbing the young star by the shirt as he entered the pitch.
The 20-year-old Danish talent shared what Casemiro conveyed during their interaction, stating, “He just said something in Spanish, ‘vamos’ or something like that.” As reported by @UtdPlug, he further explained, “He was happy that I gave the team perhaps a slightly different dynamic than what you get from Martial. After all, he hasn’t seen me play before. So he told me he was pleasantly surprised to see me play.”
Reflecting on his Manchester United debut, Hojlund expressed his delight, saying, “It was great to put on the shirt and play my first minutes as a Manchester United player. We almost won, even though we didn’t. But of course I’m happy and proud to have made my debut.” He emphasized that amidst various offers, Manchester United had always been his top priority.
Despite the buzz and praise surrounding his performance, the young talent remains grounded and focused. “To be honest, I didn’t really pay attention to it,” he revealed. “I focused on my return to Denmark. Of course, it’s hard not to see it, but I didn’t put too much energy into it.”
With his promising debut, Hojlund has positioned himself as a potential starter for Manchester United when they resume their Premier League campaign against Brighton.
