According to Quotidiano Nazionale (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri is getting interest from Bologna, who are ‘preparing’ a transfer for him this summer.
The Serie A club is hoping to sign the 21-year-old during the current transfer window. To that purpose, the Italians intend to loan the youngster with the option or duty to purchase at the end of the term.
While the Red Devils had planned to loan the Uruguay international abroad, with Amad Diallo’s injury, it’s unclear whether that will happen in the coming weeks.
As of now, there has been no conjecture about how much Bologna would be willing to spend for Pellistri. However, it does not appear prudent to sell such an enticing opportunity just soon.
United signed the Uruguayan from Penarol in the summer of 2020. Following that, the teenager spent 18 months on loan with Deportivo Alaves but failed to make an impression in Spain.
Last summer, the forward decided to stay at Old Trafford. Unfortunately, under Erik ten Hag, his chances in the first team were few and far between.
However, the manager did give Pellistri some playing time in the second half of the 2022/23 season. In total, the winger appeared in 10 games and contributed one assist.
Ten Hag seems to rely only on Antony on the right wing last season. However, the Brazilian had his fair share of fitness issues, and Bruno Fernandes was frequently used on the right side of the attack.
Mason Mont, who can play on the wings, has also joined the team. However, Pellistri’s natural role may make him a far more ideal option. But it remains to be seen whether Bologna or any other club can persuade United to part ways with him in the coming weeks.
