Marc Cucurella has struggled at Chelsea since joining for £62 million last summer. As a result, he has been identified as a possible Manchester United full-back replacement.
Due to the injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, United requires cover at the position.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United has enquired with Chelsea about a loan for Cucurella, and the Blues are intrigued if their loan fee and wage criteria are met.
Marc Cucurella was a target for Pep Guardiola.
Marc Cucurella was almost a Manchester United player, and given how his time at Chelsea has gone, he undoubtedly wishes that deal had gone through.
City were interested in signing Cucurella last summer but withdrew their interest after learning Brighton’s asking price.
Last August, Pep Guardiola was described by The MEN as lamenting the fact that his board of directors prevented him from signing the defender.
He explained, “We couldn’t go through with Cucurella because the club decided we wouldn’t pay this amount of money for this player.”
Chelsea were willing to pay a high price for Cucurella, one of numerous transactions negotiated with Brighton in the last year, including the signing and dismissal of manager Graham Potter.
Cucurella wants United to relocate.
According to Marca, Cucurella is now interested in joining Manchester United. He has not played a single minute for Chelsea this season, with new manager Mauricio Pochettino bringing in new ideas that he does not appear to be a part of.
There is a great player in there, and perhaps Erik ten Hag can pull something out of him if he is selected for the left-back position.
