Man City star Kevin De Bruyne could break two Premier League records vs Manchester United
The Belgian playmaker continues to shine for Manchester City.
When Manchester City takes on Manchester United on Sunday, Kevin De Bruyne could smash two Premier League records.
The highly anticipated fight between the two adversaries is likely to be tighter than the pair’s previous meetings this season. De Bruyne scored twice in the Blues’ 4-1 win over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in March.
The city has started the season strongly once again and has yet to taste loss in the Premier League this season. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag’s team has recovered from a shaky start to win four consecutive league games.
De Bruyne has already begun to accumulate assists for the Blues in 2022/23. He has eight assists so far as a result of his link-up play with talisman Erling Haaland.
If he can add another pair this weekend, De Bruyne will have broken two Premier League records. If he assists against United, the Belgian playmaker will have more assists in the Premier League than Liverpool star Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard’s record is 92, and the pair are currently tied after De Bruyne’s recent effort at Wolves. With one assist, he would also equal David Silva’s Premier League assist record, with the two City legends then tied at 93 in the top level.
