Manchester United fans were ecstatic after Diogo Dalot scored two goals for Portugal against the Czech Republic.
Dalot was on fire for his country, scoring twice to join fellow Red Bruno Fernandes on the scoresheet in Portugal’s 4-0 win in the UEFA Nations League.
After 33 minutes, the United full-back combined with Cristiano Ronaldo before a cross from AC Milan’s Rafael Leao found Dalot in the box for his first goal for his country. Fernandes extended the lead seconds before halftime, finding himself unmarked in the area to turn home Mario Rui’s cross.
With a magnificent strike in the 52nd minute, Dalot made it 3-0 to Portugal. With his weaker foot, the United player cut inside and curled the ball from outside the area into the bottom corner. Erik ten Hag would have been overjoyed to see his wrong-foot training paying off, as the Dutchman no likely expects to see the 23-year-old do it again in a Manchester United shirt.
Diogo Jota scored for Liverpool with eight minutes remaining, but it was the United combination of Ronaldo, Fernandes, and Dalot who stole the show with excellent performances all around. The Reds full-back was the standout player, carrying his excellent domestic form into the international break.
Following Dalot’s performance, United fans took to social media to pour praise on the defender.
