Raphael Varane, the Manchester United defender, conveyed a message on Instagram after the team secured a 1-0 victory over Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday.
Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the Red Devils had to settle for a narrow win at Old Trafford. Rasmus Hojlund missed crucial opportunities in the final third, but Victor Lindelof eventually broke the deadlock before the hour mark.
Varane, surprisingly benched once again, only entered the game in the 79th minute, with Lindelof choosing to partner Harry Maguire in central defense.
In the aftermath of the triumph, the World Cup winner shared a photo on Instagram, depicting a header against Luton during the closing stages of the match.
While Varane was a consistent starter under Erik Ten Hag’s management last season, the dynamics have shifted with Maguire’s impressive form. Unless there’s an injury crisis leading to the unavailability of Maguire or Lindelof, Varane might find himself on the bench for an extended period.
Despite the positive tone of Varane’s Instagram post, uncertainties may arise about his future if he struggles to reclaim a spot in the starting lineup in the upcoming matches.
As of now, Manchester United holds the sixth position in the table with 21 points, trailing leaders Manchester City by six points, with City having a game in hand. The team will face Everton on the road after the international break.
