Manchester United will go all hard to recruit a 119-striker to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham is concerned that the departure of a major player could result in Harry Kane leaving the club, and Liverpool is keeping a close watch on a top Chelsea target, according to Monday’s Transfer Gossip.
TAMMY ABRAHAM’S SHOPPING LIST AT MAN UTD
As they look for a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United will focus on getting Tammy Abraham back into the Premier League.
The 37-year-old superstar will return to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021 on a two-year contract. Despite his personal success in front of goal, his return to the club has not gone quite as planned. Indeed, United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League this season has fueled suspicion that Ronaldo wants to go.
While a number of teams have distanced themselves from his signature, speculation about his future continues. Indeed, Atletico Madrid was the most strongly linked, with Diego Simeone citing a Liverpool favorite as one of the reasons the move is unlikely.
United, on the other hand, persuaded Ronaldo to stay, though the move is unlikely to be permanent. His contract expires next summer, and while United has an option for another year, it appears doubtful that they will use it.
Instead, their 2023 transfer focus will shift to finding a replacement, and Abraham appears to be at the top of their list.
Abraham is seen as a key Manchester United target.
With Chelsea, Abraham established himself as a promising young striker. And his career has taken off since going to Roma in the summer of 2020. He had an outstanding rookie season, scoring 27 goals in 53 appearances.
And, despite having only two strikes this season, he is one of the most feared players in Serie A.
According to Calciomercato, United will be on the hunt for the 119-goal scorer in 2023.
The 25-year-old is expected to be Erik ten Hag’s main target in the next two transfer windows, with a summer move more likely.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, “I am told that Manchester United is interested in signing Abraham in the summer.”
TOTTENHAM TALKS ON HOLD FOR HARRY KANE
According to a source, Harry Kane is refusing to enter into fresh contract talks with Tottenham for the time being.
Kane’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium expires in the summer of 2024, and the club is obviously eager to extend it.
Indeed, recent rumors have suggested that Bayern Munich is interested in luring Kane to the Bundesliga next summer. And the rumors have been so bad that the England captain finally spoke out about them earlier this month.
However, efforts to start talks with Kane about a new contract are proving more difficult than expected.
And, according to Football Insider, his delay is directly related to Antonio Conte’s future.
They claim Kane has been impressed by the club’s comeback under the Italian. He has brought them back into the Champions League after only a few months on the job. They are also enjoying their best start to a Premier League season, with 23 points from their first ten games.
However, persistent rumors claim that Conte may leave Tottenham and return to Juventus next summer.
If that happens, it raises the chances of Kane leaving Tottenham.
Conte’s contract expires at the conclusion of the 2023 season, and Spurs are hoping to sign him to a new contract worth £20 million a year. That works out to a stunning £400,000 per week.
Those discussions will heat up at the World Cup midseason break. A favourable decision might potentially lead to Spurs negotiating a new contract with Kane.
CHRISTOPHER NKUNKU GETS LATE SWOOP AT LIVERPOOL
Liverpool is keeping a tight eye on Christopher Nkunku in case his proposed deal to Chelsea falls through.
At RB Leipzig, the France forward has become one of the world’s most sought-after players, scoring 35 goals and providing 20 assists in 52 appearances last season.
Because of his recent form, curiosity over his future has grown, despite the fact that he extended his contract with the Bundesliga club over the summer.
According to recent sources, Chelsea have agreed to bring Nkunku to Stamford Bridge in 2023. When it comes to recruiting elite players to Stamford Bridge, new owner Todd Boehly has demonstrated that money is no object.
The Blues appear to be preparing to exercise his release clause, which is set at an estimated £52 million.
However, according to recent rumors, Nkunku is also being monitored by Liverpool. They dispatched their top scout to watch him in Leipzig’s 2-0 Champions League triumph against Celtic last week, according to The Sun.
Having said that, it appears that Liverpool has missed the boat. A move to Chelsea appears to be on the cards, with new manager Graham Potter expected to make the ultimate call.
However, if they decide against it, the Reds appear well poised to capitalize, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly a fan.
