I’d like to begin by saying that I am aware that people will evaluate me based on what they have seen and heard on social media, and I am aware that people will assume the worst.
I was raised to believe that violence or abuse in any relationship is unacceptable; I did not do the things I was accused of, and I was cleared of all charges in February.
However, I completely acknowledge that I made faults in my relationship and accept responsibility for the conditions that led to the social media post.
I’m learning to appreciate my responsibilities as a professional footballer to set a good example, and I’m focusing on the enormous responsibility of being a good father and partner.
Today’s decision was made in collaboration with Manchester United, my family, and myself. The greatest option for all of us is for me to continue my football career outside of Old Trafford, where my presence will not be a distraction to the club. I’d want to thank the club for their help since I joined when I was seven years old.T
