Gabriel Agbonlahor didn’t hold back in his criticism of Manchester United’s performance during their 3-1 loss to Brighton. He particularly singled out Casemiro, likening his performance in midfield to that of a 45-year-old. Agbonlahor also pointed out issues with Lisandro Martinez’s defending and called for Harry Maguire to be given a starting place.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Agbonlahor expressed his frustration with the match, highlighting Brighton’s dominance with 659 passes and more shots on target, along with 57% possession.
He said, “Casemiro… Casemiro looked like he was 45 running around that midfield. He had to bring him off on the 65th minute for Hannibal, a young lad, because he was that bad.”
Agbonlahor also criticized Martinez for his role in Brighton’s second goal, where he was deceived by Pascal Gross’s dummy, and mentioned Victor Lindelof’s mistakes as well. He argued that Harry Maguire deserves a place in the starting lineup and called for consistent scrutiny of all players, not just singling out Maguire.
“So let’s see the same energy, all you tweeters, whoever you are, let’s see the same energy for Martinez at the back, for Casemiro, who can’t get around the pitch, not just pick on Harry Maguire,” Agbonlahor concluded.
