On Saturday, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes performed a fantastic performance in the Premier League’s 3-2 comeback triumph over Nottingham Forest.
The Red Devils got off to the worst possible start at Old Trafford, conceding twice in the first four minutes. Christian Eriksen equalized in the 17th minute.
Casemiro squandered a fantastic opportunity to tie the game before the halftime, but he made apologies in the 52nd minute. Fernandes’ brilliance created the goal.
From a free kick, the Portugal international produced a superb one-two with Marcus Rashford before laying the ball off for Casemiro to nod in from a couple of yards away.
In the 76th minute, Fernandes scored the game-winning penalty for Manchester United. As they earned a great victory at home, the 28-year-old truly led by example.
Apart from his goal contributions, he had 107 touches, 55 passes, and six long balls. He was victorious in seven duels and three tackles. The Portuguese put on an outstanding performance.
Of course, he was guilty of losing possession 34 times during the game, but it didn’t matter in the end, as United came out on top with a morale-boosting victory ahead of the Arsenal trip.
United’s defensive record needs to improve if they are to challenge for the Premier League crown, but manager Erik ten Hag should be pleased with how they responded against Nottingham Forest.
In eight days, the club will travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal. Mikel Arteta’s team has also struggled defensively. United should be hoping for back-to-back victories before the international break.
