Manchester United fans go wild as Roy Keane winds up Liverpool FC fans in Legends game

During the charity match, the former Manchester United captain came to the field and seemed to enjoy the booing he received.

The debut of Roy Keane in Manchester United’s ‘Legends of the North’ charity match against Liverpool was met with boos from home fans.

The United legend was revealed as a visiting squad member just before the game, which ended 2-1 in favor of the hosts after a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford in May. He came on for Darron Gibson after 75 minutes, to boos.

On seven minutes, Dimitar Berbatov struck the top corner to give the visitors the lead. However, second-half goals from Mark Gonzalez and Florent Sinama Pongolle gave the United Legends back-to-back defeats versus Liverpool.

Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia, and Jaap Stam were among the former stars on display. Meanwhile, Liverpool fielded Xabi Alonso, Martin Skrtel, and Robbie Keane.

However, United fans who were watching the coverage were wondering when they would see Keane back in his boots. They got their wish with 15 minutes remaining, and while the 51-year-old couldn’t affect the outcome of the game, he seemed to enjoy being jeered.

Many people on Twitter reacted to his appearance. Some laughed along with the boos, while others reminisced about the glory days when Keane led the first team to silverware.
