Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is still looking for more signings this weekend and hopes that Frenkie de Jong and Antony will join Casemiro.
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, is sure that the club will complete the purchase of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
The Brazilian international’s transfer was completed on Friday evening, and he arrived at Old Trafford for the first time on Monday to see United’s courageous victory over Liverpool. Ten Hag isn’t resting on his laurels after that performance, and he’s looking to sign a few more players.
As Mirror Football exclusively reported this week, United’s transfer ambitions are not slowing down, with the club eager to back the manager in bringing in several more players who will immediately improve the quality of the starting lineup.
The pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been ongoing for 16 weeks, but United officials have traveled to the Catalan capital to try to resuscitate a deal for the Dutch midfielder after the Blaugrana organized a meeting to expedite the player’s sale. De Jong even ‘liked’ a post depicting Casemiro’s arrival at Old Trafford, implying his future ambitions.
Ajax forward Antony is another player United is interested in. The Brazilian, who was an outstanding player for the Dutch club last season, is hoping to rekindle his great relationship with Ten Hag, according to rumors that the player’s representatives recently traveled to Europe to assist negotiate a deal earlier this month.
Antony appears to be interested in joining United and uploaded photographs of himself watching the Red Devils beat Liverpool on Monday night after being left out of Ajax’s matchday squad this weekend.
After United’s win over Liverpool, Ten Hag talked about transfers and stated that he wanted several more top-level players. When questioned about prospective signings, the Red Devils’ manager responded, “You never know.” “We stated from the start that we wanted to bring in the proper players, not just any players.
“I’m confident that we’ve found the proper talent in new acquisition Casemiro. The window is not shut. You need numbers, but not just any numbers; you also need quality. We gave so much, and I believe that bringing that to the pitch can make you stronger, both physically and mentally. If you bring it every three days, you’ll need numbers, and good ones.”
Ten Hag went on: “We require more leaders. More leaders are required for a winning team. We must bring it to every game, not just the one against Liverpool. We were discussing leadership, and we were discussing leadership on the pitch, but he [Casemiro] is also one.
“He understands the game and how to win. He’s won numerous trophies over his career, which is valuable to have on your team. Raphael Varane has that, so with him, Casemiro, and [Cristiano] Ronaldo, you need some as a guide for young players who haven’t won trophies yet, but that’s what we want to achieve.”
