Christian Eriksen believes fellow midfielder Scott McTominay deserves a lot of credit for his contribution to Manchester United’s resurgence in the Premier League.
United was humiliated in their first two games of the season, but recovered with four consecutive league wins, including home victories over Liverpool and Arsenal.
Eriksen and McTominay began in midfield for all four victories, and their overall performance suffered when their partnership was split up against Real Sociedad on Thursday night.
Ten Hag will be hoping the duo can inspire United to another victory the next time they play together — their match against Crystal Palace this weekend was postponed due to the Queen’s death — and Eriksen believes McTominay deserves a lot of credit for his performance in midfield.
“I think you can see from the games that Scott has done extremely well,” he told official club media. “I believe in the first few ones we were looking for each other a little bit and seeing where we were, but now I think we’re starting to have a good connection and a good understanding of where you should be, and partly because of the manager’s instructions as he has the places he wants us to be in.”
“So, first and foremost, we need to focus on our partnership while also focusing on where the manager wants us to be.” I believe it went well, but when you win games, it’s easy to look back and the confidence grows, and you forget the minor mistakes you make and remember the good things.
“There are a lot of things we can improve on, but we’re on the right track.”
